An inspired landscape artist translated his love of White Rock Creek into a comprehensive landscape vision.

He began the project at the side with a secluded inspiration, using Japanese garden plants and features to embellish a Texas hardscape of Austin chalk. The designer used the natural grade to create a small stream and waterfall.

A coral bark Japanese maple’s red neon trunk watches over the garden entrance, and fluffy green ferns and shrubs highlight the watercourse. When the side door opens, the owners hear only water rippling, albeit only four miles from downtown.

Already one of the most intriguing garden spots in the neighborhood, as the project progresses to the front and other side, HSM will claim bragging rights for one of Dallas’s great private gardens, both exotic and still, at its core, a very Texas garden.
